Re- FREAM will enable co-creation of scientists and artists in urban environment by offering facilitation services, access to know-how and technologies as well as mentoring. Urban Manufacturing means that production becomes a part of a human living space. it is integrating into human living and creates more proximity to the consumer. It often makes use of local resources and locally embedded value chains.

​Re- FREAM explores art-inspired urban manufacturing, where the city becomes a new production space in which high-quality, design-oriented products are created. Especially for fashion, Urban Manufacturing offers a great opportunity to create an alternative to the much criticized production in low-wage countries. This is possible today through new technologies that are currently changing not only the fashion itself, but also the way it is designed and produced. Computer-aided design, 3D printing, robotic sewing and other technologies accessible in open workshops, coworking spaces or labs allow fashion to take a whole new approach to designing and producing high, sustainable quality and innovative designs.

The project involves an international consortium of experienced partners regarding technology, research, fashion, and design, as well as art-tech transfer expertise.
